Description:
The jungle at a glimpse with this tour to the Manu National Park sightseeing the Cultural Zone
that covers high mountains, cloud forests, low jungle as well as small villages.

Day 1:
Early in the morning, we leave Cusco in our vehicle. By noon, we tour the Ninamarca Chullpas
(Tombs). After stopping at Paucartambo, a Spanish colonial town, we descend the Acjanacu Pass,
the boundary of Manu Biosphere Reserve. This area is home to a little bird called the Cock of the
Rock (Rupicola peruviana), the Spectacled Bear as well as to numerous orchids, ferns, mosses
and lichens. Roughly 50% of the flora found here is endemic to this region. We spend the night in
our "Orquideas de San Pedro" Lodge.

Day 2:
We get up early to climb a platform called Lek in order to watch the Cock of the Rock, Peru´s
national bird, performing a mating ritual dance. On our way to the port of Atalaya, we cross
Pilcopata town as well as stunning waterfalls and canyons. After boarding the motor boat in the
port, we head down the Alto Madre de Dios River (15 minutes) towards our private lodge "Erika".
This area offers an interesting ride from high to low jungle (from 1,150 to 600 m.a.s.l.).

Day 3:
We walk near the riverbanks while our guide tells us about the local flora and fauna. In the
afternoon and after a short boat ride, we trek again until we reach Machuwasi Lake where we
watch diverse animals such as egrets, tucans, carpenters and cardinals with the help of a
telescope. In the evening we'll make a night walk to observe a variety of insects and frogs
species.

Day 4:
We get up early for a down-river boat ride to the Collpa or parrot clay lick. On the river banks,
many species of parrots such as the blue headed parrot and the white-eyed parakeet feed for
